Biography
Daniel is a native of Calafrack and the son of Gien Stonevien, former Minister of the Masters of Guilds in Calafrack. Daniel had always grown up in the shadow of his older brother Michael, a legendary dragon slayer. When daniel was eleven his brother fought against the first dragon that had been recorded in known history, when Cedric Bull attempted to mutiny and overthrow the Masters of Guilds as the primary government in Calafrack. Daniel was always upset that his brother would not allow him to fight the beast with him, and envied his title of dragon slayer. Two years later when Plife Draken arrived in Calafrack with his dragon Gigalith, Daniel was anxious for a chance to slay a dragon of his own. but his brother once again forbid it. At the advice of Rattish the Wise, a councilor to the Masters of Guilds, Michael decided that it was better not to rush into a battle with this dragon, who was much larger that the dragon he slew two years prior. Daniel however took it upon himself to seek out the beast; his brother soon figured out where Daniel had went though, but by the time he had found him Daniel was already locked in combat with Gigalith. Michael joined the battle and in an attempt to save his brothers life was crushed by the dragon against a tree before Daniel's eyes. Daniel, for the first time ridden with fear, retreated from the dragon, but would not return home. Instead he went to his friend Link Gondev of the the Woodsman Guild and confided in him. Afraid to go home, Daniel helped Link and Princess Alexandria flee to Ruinous. When he arrived in Ruinous, King Daerunt took a rather peculiar interest in Daniel, asking him about who his father was and where he was from. Daniel, not wanting to return home ever decide, along with Link, that he would take up arms and serve in the King's army in the war that they had brought to the doorstep of Ruinous. Daniel fought in the vanguard in many key battles, and in the retaking of Sky City he was once more faced with Gigalith, the dragon that had killed his brother. Overcome with rage Daniel rushed in an engaged the dragon. During his fight with Gigalith, Daniel discovered he had a hidden gift, the ability to wield fire, having redirected the dragon's fire back at it. By the time Daerunt had arrived to slay the dragon it had already lay dead as the hands of Daniel Stonevien. This raised Daerunt's interest in Daniel and upon returning to Ruinous Daniel was sent to Issaeos to study magic and hone his skills. At Issaeos Daniel thrived as a mage but faltered in the academic portion of his education as well as the social aspect. Daniel spent much of his time at Issaeos fighting with other student's and rarely opened a book to study. He was able to wield his element well, but understood none of the principles of magic. He had very few friends at Issaeos, among them were Keliea Nyis, who he had protected from the cruelty of others, and Tin'at Warbush, a former slave from the Southern Continent. After seven years of studying magic Daniel was expelled from Issaeos when he came into conflict with Mako Enduare and burned half of his face off. Outraged, Itro Enduare, wanted Daniel executed, but when word of this reached Daerunt he made for Issaeos and demanded that Daniel be released into the custody of the crown. Daerunt then took Daniel and told him he would be starting his service to king on that day and paired him with Keath Ravenslayer and appointed him the position of a royal assassin, serving his king from the shadows.
