Elevated to Master of the Treasury after the War of Extermination by Daerunt as a reward for his part in the cue against Pedigran, Lord Stanley has greatly changed the place of his house among the noble families.   Upon the discovery of gold deposits deep within Bear Mountain the Aleers transformed from jailers to miners. Stanley was the first of his family to pioneer the gold mining industry, but his endeavor was frowned upon by the crown, during the rein of Pedigran Lagrest, and the King commanded the Aleers to leave the mining and distribution of all gold on their land to the crown.  This was a deciding factor in why Stanley joined Daerunt's cue and betrayed the Lagrest dynasty.  He saw a great opportunity for his family to attain great wealth and Pedigran was standing in his way.  Since Daerunt's rule began the Aleers have become one of the wealthiest and most powerful houses in Ruinous, only falling short of the Gafertys.
